(no subject)

It's snowing. In the greenhouse.

I don't even know what to say.

Now the balance of all the plants is off. And I worked really hard to get them optimized.

It's icky! Ickyickyicky! It's cold and wet and SNOW SHOULD BE OUTSIDE NOT INSIDE THE LOVELY WARM MANSION!

Cats! I finally was able to cultivate some Texas bluebonnets, and those are so very fickle about the cold and amount of water they receive. They are so pretty too. I had seen them in person, but only as clippings, but the photos of them growing wild on the side of the road are absolutely gorgeous. And they require so much sunlight that I dare not cover them to keep them warm and dry.

And there are other plants in the same boat.

I like Wade's tent and heater idea! Can UV light under a cover substitute for sunlight?

Yes, but as I told that Clint kid, each plant has different needs and I need to go back to rebalancing them.

Aww. How long is that gonna take?

[identity profile] x-dryad.livejournal.com 2012-12-01 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It will take until it is finished. These things take time.

[identity profile] x-hawkeye.livejournal.com 2012-12-01 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
What, like PH balance?

[identity profile] x-dryad.livejournal.com 2012-12-01 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just the PH balance of the soil. The snow itself is causing an over-saturation of water the plants receive. The plants will live, but I am going to need to compensate for this drastic change in conditions, that is if it ever stops snowing in here.

[identity profile] x-hawkeye.livejournal.com 2012-12-01 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure it'll stop sometime soon. Billy got in touch with Miss Sefton.

How do you compensate for the change, though? I mean, is it a powers thing for you? Or is this like you're going to put a heater in the room and check the drainage to make sure the plants don't stay over-saturated?

Plants are like people, and even the ones in the same species have their own quirks. No one is going to die, but if Amanda is able to stop this snowing I'm going to have to go back around and talk with each plant to figure out what they need then work on rebalancing them.

[identity profile] x-hawkeye.livejournal.com 2012-12-01 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like it's going to take a while.

Favorite plant-whisperer-mine, I have a plan. It involves a heater and a tent. I'll be down in the greenhouse in five minutes, tops.

Walking heater over here if you need help with anything heat-related.

Uh, yeah, that was me. Really sorry. I've got it mostly cleaned up now. I'm not great with plants, but let me know if there's anything I can do.
